Bands are ready to rock you

WE ARE running a series of features on the bands appearing at this year's Rock on the Rocks at Biddulph Moor Village Hall.

The music festival takes place on Saturday July 7, and features 11 local bands.

For ticket details ring Beth Wilson on 01782-523811.

First on are the Black Apples, a fusion of contemporary blues, sharp guitar, solid rhythm section and top vocals.

They have been selling out at venues across the country, including a 1500-capacity event at The King's Hall in Stoke on Trent, and have headlined at The Sugarmill.

The three-piece band consists of Alex Musso on guitar and lead vocals, Jamie Griffin on bass and vocals and Joe Dawson on drums.

The Stoke-based band formed in June 2004, and have gigged up and down the country supporting acts such as Nine Black Alps, 80s Matchbox B Line Disaster, The Little Flames and Proud Mary and many others.

Next up at Rock on the Rocks are The Mayhem Effect, an original progressive rock/funk four-piece band from Staffordshire and Cheshire, who are making a big noise on the local music scene.

They have a range of musical influences, and have earned positive feedback from music industry people.

They have built a reputation for outstanding live shows, and are Tim Amson on guitars, Ryan Whitmore on bass, Karl Prestage on vocals and Jamie Barlow on drums.

They are followed by Biddulph-based band This Machine Is Off.

The band is to record at the world-famous Sun Studios in Memphis after winning the final of the Jack Daniels Soundcheck contest.

The band is fronted by lead singer Jack Roche, and the other members are Ian Boon on bass, Matt Hall on drums, Jamie Barber on keyboards and Gavin Munro on leader guitar.

Look out on our website for features on the other bands appearing at Rock on the Rocks.
