CONGLETON Borough Council recognised and celebrated employee achievements on Friday night at Sandbach Town Hall as part of the annual staff Christmas party.
Five winners, in five categories, were selected for by staff, with over 300 votes received in total.
The awards were presented by the Council’s Chief Executive, Glyn Chambers.
Team of the Year Award was presented to the Parks Team for achieving the Green Flag for Congleton Park.
The Green Flag measures all aspects of park management, and is a reflection of the excellent work carried out by all those involved in the maintenance, management and development of the park.
The Outstanding Customer Service Award was presented to Stewart Beeston and Pete Whiston for outstanding sensitivity shown in the presentation of a grave to a family burying their young child.
Stewart and Pete work as part of a team who provide an excellent service to residents at the two cemeteries in the borough.
The Community Contribution Award was presented to Nigel Rowbottom for his time as a volunteer in Milton Park, Alsager, as well as donating and planting 200 trees at Malkins Bank Golf Course in memory of his father and brother.
Event of the Year Award was presented to Streetsafe, a high profile police and partner operation in a chosen area demonstrating commitment to working together, improving the quality of life for residents, reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and enhancing community safety.
Employee of the Year Award was presented to the council’s Waste Management Team, headed by Alan Longshaw.
Through the achievements of the team, the Council now has one of the best kerbside recycling schemes in the North West.
Glyn Chambers said:“I was delighted to present the awards at the staff Christmas party, in recognition of some outstanding achievements.
"The party celebrated a successful year for Congleton Borough Council, where we achieved a ‘good’ rating by external auditors.
"Our award winning staff will continue to provide excellent services for our residents under the new Cheshire East Council, which comes into force from April 1st 2009.”
