KEN Stanier and Nigel Rowbottom are keen to make a clean sweep of Congleton’s streets aboard their new tippers.
Ken and Nigel are borough council Streetscape operatives, and help keep towns across the borough looking their best.
They have been handed the keys to new Ford Transit Tippers to replace N-registration pick-ups which had reached the end of the road.
The new vehicles have been adapted at Ken and Nigel’s request to enable easier access to the cages at the back of the tippers.
The tippers have 2.4 litre TDCi engines, which have been modified to ensure maximum fuel efficiency.
The council’s street cleansing section empties more than 900 litter and dog bins every week, equating to 1.5 tonnes of dog waste and 90 cubic metres of litter.
“The new vehicles will speed up operations, enabling Ken and Nigel to collect rubbish more efficiently,” said grounds and cleansing manager Gareth Edwards.
“I would like to thank them for their hard work keeping the streets clean.”
