ALSAGER professional Shaun Rashid destroyed Woore on Saturday with a seven-wicket haul.

The 1st X1 lost the loss at Woore for the 13th time in a row, and were surprised when the home side opted to bat on a damp, green wicket.

Alsager’s bowlers took full advantage, shellshocked Woore being skittled out for only 53 runs.

Rashid ended with seven wickets for only 25 runs off 20 overs, supported by Paul Tibbetts, who took three for 13 off 14 overs.

Alsager easily knocked off the required runs in reply, scoring 54 for one, the only batsman out, Tom Blackwood, going for 20.

Grant Goodwin and Paul Pickford were unbeaten on 13 and 14 respectively.

Alsager earned 20 points, and are a massive 62 points clear at the top of the table.

Alsager 2nds played Woore at home, the visitors opening with 98 all out thanks to some excellent bowling and fielding.

Spin bowlers Matthew Nixon and Dayle Stancliffe played well, taking three wickets each at a respective cost of 31 and 12 runs.

Mark Bebbington took two for 23, and Lucas Wood picked up one wicket at a cost of nine runs.

Alsager replied with a winning 102 for five, Richard South top scoring with a solid 27, and Bebbington ended 19 not out.

Alsager claimed 20 points to return to the top of the table.

Alsager 1st X1 are at home to Endon this Saturday, with the 2nds away.
