ALSAGER 1st X1 won a place in the 20/20 finals after success on Sunday.
Alsager hosted the North Staffs and South Cheshire semi-fijnal of the trophy, being drawn against Meir Heath and Whitmore.
In the first game Alsager chased a Meir Heath total of 147 for seven.
Excellent starts by Tom Blackwood and Paul Pickford got their reply moving, but it was left to stand-in professional Srini Rajogopal, Paul Tibbetts and Andy Watkins to knock off the runs.
Rajogopal ended with 37 as Alsager won the game with three balls to spare.
Meir Heath were beaten by Whitmore, leaving Whitmore and Alsager contesting the last game, the winners to host the final.
Whitmore struggled to 107 all out, Paul Newnes taking a suoerb four for 19 and two for 24 from Mohammed Arshad.
None of the Alsager batsmen shone until the arrival of Rajogopal.
He plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian 20/20 League, and his class shone through as he hit an excellent 67 not out with Paul Tibbetts to win the game.
Alsager scored 108 for seven, and won in the last over.
Alsager take on Leek, Kidsgrove and Whitmore in the final on Sunday August 10.
