David Attenborough hates airports

Sir David Attenborough has confessed he hates flying - because airports are crowded with people.

The 86-year-old TV presenter and naturalist has travelled to the far corners of the world to study animals in the wild, but doesn't like queueing at the airport to get there.

Sir David revealed: "I loathe getting on an aeroplane. But I always think when I go in there and see this seething mass of humanity queuing, that once I'm at my destination it's going to get better. And it does."

The TV star admitted exploring the world isn't as easy at it used to be.

"I can't climb trees as energetically as I used to and I can't walk all day - indeed, I find it hard to walk about 100 yards," he admitted

But Sir David has no plans to retire - "That would be boring, wouldn't it?" - as he still has "lots" of things he's yet to tick off his list.

"One of the most obvious and the thing which every wildlife cameraman would give his right arm to film is the giant squid," he said.

"And sperm whales actually have circular scars on their snouts which exactly match the suckers on the squid's arm. So it's almost certain that sperm whales swim down into the black abyss and there wrestle with giant squid. If I got a film of that..."
