Banks: Top Model success unreal

Congleton Guardian: Tyra Banks didn't realise Top Model would be such a hit Tyra Banks didn't realise Top Model would be such a hit

Tyra Banks has revealed that working on America's Next Top Model has stopped her missing her own catwalk career..

The star made her name as a model but in recent years has been more focused on television, and admitted that she doesn't miss her cover girl days.

She told Parade magazine: "I don't miss modelling very much because I have America's Next Top Model, so for the past 10 years I've been creating photo shoots, executive producing the television show, and doing a lot of photo shoots myself."

Tyra - who has also been busy with her own chat show - revealed that being a model wasn't necessarily an easy life.

She said: "I do look back to those modelling days when it was just some people on your nails, somebody on your hair, somebody on your make-up, and you're just like, 'What angle am I going to do today?' So it was a pretty non-challenging life in terms of not having to micromanage and wear so many different hats, but it wasn't easy.

"There's a lot of isolation with modelling, you're by yourself constantly, there's a lot of people telling you to lose weight and that you're not good enough - your hair, your skin - there's a lot of pressure."

Tyra also confessed she had no idea her Top Model show would become so big.

"When I created Top Model, I thought if I had two seasons it would have been a success. I would have been happy," she said.

"Now, we're getting ready to start Cycle 21 and it's unreal."
