EastEnder up for BBC radio award

EastEnders star Lacey Turner and classical actor Simon Russell Beale are among the nominees for their radio performances at the BBC's Audio Drama Awards.

A comedy starring Benedict Cumberbatch is also up for a pair of prizes at the third annual awards, which are staged later this month.

Beale is up for best actor for his role in Radio 3's adaptation of Copenhagen, facing competition from Lee Ross (King David, Radio 3) and Joseph Millson ( The Real George Orwell: Jura, Radio 4)

The best actress title is between Carly Bawden (The Colour Of Milk, Radio 4), Christine Bottomley (My Boy, Radio 4) and Marcia Warren (Tony And Rose, Radio 4).

Lacey is shortlisted for best supporting actress for Radio 4's The One About The Social Worker, against Lia Williams (FindthePerfectPartner4u.com, Radio 4) and Claire Rushbrook (King David, Radio 3), with best supporting actor between Shaun Dooley (The Gothic Imagination: Frankenstein, Radio 4), Geoffrey Bretton (Imaginary Boys, Radio 4) and David Rasche (Warrior Class, Radio 4)

Radio 4's Cabin Pressure is up for both the scripted comedy and scripted comedy-drama titles.

The ceremony will be staged at the Radio Theatre in the BBC's Broadcasting House on January 26.
