Witherspoon turns down The Intern?

Reese Witherspoon is no longer in talks to star in The Intern, according to reports.

The Walk The Line actress was said to be considering starring alongside Robert De Niro in the Warner Bros comedy, directed by Nancy Meyers.

But sources told Variety that the Oscar winner was no longer involved in the project and the studio could approach Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig as a replacement.

The film tells the story of a fashion website owner who bonds with an elderly intern (De Niro) hired by her company.

Witherspoon, who has just made Inherent Vice with Joaquin Phoenix, is said to have turned down the project because of her schedule.

Variety said that the film was originally set up at Paramount, with Michael Caine and Tina Fey tipped for the lead roles.
