Grandmaster Flash, Grand Wizzard Theodore and Grand Mixer DXT have become the first DJs to be inducted into Hollywood's RockWalk.
The music-mixing pioneering trio put their hands in cement and signed their names at Guitar Centre's Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, during the ceremony, which was hosted by DJ Jazzy Jeff.
Grandmaster Flash, whose real name is Joseph Saddler, said: "The turntables are the universal way, that people play music today. This is why I call myself the first DJ to make the turntables an instrument. My name is Grandmaster Flash ."
Grand Wizzard Theodore (Theodore Livingston), who invented scratching, added: "I am just so happy to be here because I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this culture and to this art form that we call hip-hop.
"When I first saw two turntables and a mixer with Grandmaster Flash and my brother Mean Gene, that's when I decided what I wanted to do in life. I would definitely say I was born into this culture and to this art form we call hip-hop, and I am very happy to still be here."
Turntablist Grand Mixer DXT (Derek Showard) said: "This is part of a very, very long journey that Flash, Theodore and I have been travelling for almost 40, 45 years."
DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jeffrey Townes) - who introduced the trio as "three of the Mount Rushmore when it comes to DJs" and referred to them as "part of the forefathers" of hip-hop culture - also received paintings of him and sidekick Will Smith in commemoration of 25 years since they won the first rap Grammy for Parents Just Don't Understand .
Grandmaster Flash, Grand Wizzard Theodore and Grand Mixer DXT join the likes of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Iron Maiden and Run-DMC for a RockWalk honour.
