Jamie Oliver: I want to do less

Congleton Guardian: Jamie Oliver isn't planning to put his feet up just yet Jamie Oliver isn't planning to put his feet up just yet

Jamie Oliver has said he wants to do less in the next few years.

The TV chef has built up a restaurant empire, topped the best-seller lists, released a cookery range and enjoyed success cooking on the small screen and has his own production company.

But he said it was time to spend more time enjoying life - although he ruled out putting his feet up.

"Everyone always seems to think there's a massively strategic... strategy, but generally, there isn't.

"If anything, I'm doing less in the next 10 years. I've had my very experimental five years and I've learned lots from it. I've tried and tested lots of tiny things.

"Most of it has worked and a handful have failed, and that's what it's all about," said Jamie, whose latest venture, Food Tube, is a YouTube network dedicated to cookery videos.

"I think the next 15, 20 years is about doing less, being more focused, people, relationships - and having a good laugh."

:: The BBQ Book by DJ BBQ, The Cake Book by Cupcake Jemma and The Family Cook Book by Kerryann Dunlop are Jamie Oliver Food Tube books, published by Penguin, priced £7.99 each. Available now. Check out their videos on Jamie's Food Tube channel.

Yes, Jamie, you tried some things that didn't work such as your pizza place in Winchester which closed after a very short time - never mind the workers who lost their jobs and had to look elsewhere in an already overcrowded workplace - but don't worry I'm sure you will enjoy your many other ventures/gambles.

So no one should try anything new then. No new restaurant concepts no new shops or retail concepts. How dare he invest in fitting out and opening a restaurant without the foresight to see that note everything will work.
