Rupert Grint heads for Broadway

Rupert Grint is set to make his Broadway debut.

The Harry Potter star, best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the wizard films, will tread the boards this autumn, Deadline reported.

Rupert will star as a stage director in a revival of Terrence McNally's backstage comedy, It's Only A Play.

"I'm thrilled to be making my Broadway debut alongside this amazing cast and creative team," the actor was quoted as saying.

It's Only A Play, directed by Jack O'Brien and also starring Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane , is set to open in October at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

Last year, Rupert starred in a play, Mojo, at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London.

Rupert's Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe earned rave reviews for his Broadway performance in The Cripple Of Inishmaan.
