Mrs Brown is No 1 at D'Box Office

Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie has shot to number one at the box office.

The film adaptation of Brendan O'Carroll's award-winning sitcom raked in £4.3 million in its opening weekend in UK and Ireland.

The Irish comedian stars as matriarch Agnes Brown in the hit comedy, a character based on his own mother, which started out as a stage play before being made into a TV show, with a cast made up of many of Brendan's real-life family.

The film sees Mrs Brown's market stall under threat from a ruthless developer - prompting the family to start a campaign to save their business, aided only by Buster Brady's blind trainee ninjas, a barrister with an unhelpful affliction, and Grandad's elderly friends.

Two spin-off movies are already in the works, including one about Mrs Brown's gay son Rory and his husband.
