Brett Ratner has revealed that making Beverly Hills Cop 4 is a dream come true, because he is a fan of the films.
The Rush Hour filmmaker is set to direct the fourth instalment in the action-comedy crime franchise, which will see Eddie Murphy reprising his role as street-smart Detroit cop Axel Foley.
"For me to be doing another Beverly Hills Cop is like a dream for me. I created the Rush Hour movies because I was so inspired by Beverly Hills Cop," he said.
Brett teased that Beverly Hills Cop 4, which is scheduled for a 2016 release, will satisfy fans, saying: "Everything you didn't learn in the first three, you're going to learn in this one."
The 45-year-old also revealed how action-adventure Hercules, starring Dwayne Johnson as the Greek demigod, proved to be his biggest challenge to date.
"It was hard. It was the biggest challenge. It wasn't the biggest budget but it was the biggest challenge because of the scope," he said. "I never thought I'd have so many extras, so many costumes, so many horses, so many chariots. It was an epic undertaking for sure."
However Brett, who is producing the Horrible Bosses sequel, has no intentions of going down the indie route.
"When I'm older and tired, I'll do smaller-scale movies," he said.
"I'm still young, I still have the energy and the excitement about doing it so I'm going to keep doing it until they stop me. Every experience is like a different experience, it's amazing for me. I love my job."
