Brad Pitt revealed that his drug-taking days are "long since past" at a film screening in Los Angeles.
The Hollywood A-lister and father-of-six produced the feature-length documentary The House I Live In, about the drugs epidemic in the US, which Eugene Jarecki directed.
"I'm Brad Pitt and I'm a drug addict," joked the 48-year-old, before stating: "My drug days have long since past."
Brad branded efforts to stop the illegal drug trade in the States as a "charade".
"It's certainly true that I could probably land in any city, in any state, and get you whatever you wanted. I could find anything you're looking for, give me 24 hours or so," he said.
"And yet we still support this, I have to say, this charade called the drug war. We've spent a trillion dollars, it's lasted, it's gone on, for over 40 years - a lot of people have lost their lives for it."
He added: "And we still talk about it like it's a success. And yet it's a flawed, a backwards system/strategy that actually perpetuates itself."
Brad, who is engaged to fellow actress Angelina Jolie, previously admitted that he used to smoke marijuana because he was depressed during his earlier years of fame.
"I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out," he told Parade.
