Cabaye buy-out not a concern

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has insisted he is not concerned by claims that star midfielder Yohan Cabaye could buy out his contract for as little as £6million this summer.

The Magpies rejected an offer of around £10million for the France international, who they value at around double that amount, from Arsenal in August and have since reaped the rewards as he has led the club into the upper reaches of the Barclays Premier League table.

However, despite the Gunners and Paris St Germain indicating that they have no plans to rekindle their interest in him this month, reports on Friday suggested Cabaye could move unilaterally to end his stay on Tyneside at the end of his third season in English football.

But a relaxed Pardew said: "It doesn't worry me. The point you are raising is something that has been raised at an international level, it's not isolated to Yohan Cabaye.

"Whether that's possible, I don't know, it's not my department, if I am honest.

"The most important thing is that he has two years left on his contract in the summer and we are looking forward to him playing for Newcastle for the rest of this season, and we will take it from there in the summer."
