Canada booked their place in Sunday's gold-medal match with a 1-0 win over the United States in the Winter Olympic semi-final.
Jamie Benn scored the only goal of the game in the second minute of the second period, prodding home from close range, to set up a meeting with Sweden.
The US were unable to find a response to the Canadians, who dominated much of the third session without managing to find the back of the net.
Canada soaked up pressure well in the last five minutes as the US came looking for an equalising score, but the Canadian defence proved solid, recording only their second shutout of the tournament.
"We knew it was going to be a tight hockey game. We found a way to get one, we just played great team defence and we're moving on," Benn said.
The Canadians will be hoping to become the first North American team in 62 years to win the Winter Olympic title outside their home continent.
In the earlier game Sweden edged past neighbours Finland 2-1 in a bad tempered game in the Bolshoy Ice Dome.
Olli Jokinen opened the scoring for the Finns, squeezing the puck through the legs of Swedish netminer Henrik Lundqvist six minutes into the second period.
Loui Eriksson grabbed an equaliser for Sweden before Erik Karlsson put the Swedes ahead with a bullet shot at the end of the second period.
While Finland came back at the Swedes in the final session, they never looked liked getting past Lundqvist.
"Of course I'm happy, but not too happy because we have still got one game left. For me, this was just another step up on the mountain that we are looking at. But I'm feeling good and I'm optimistic so I think everything is perfect," Sweden coach Par Marts said.
"We talk about the gold medal all the time. We have such good skill on this team so we can win but the journey will be a struggle. Now we are one step ahead so I think we can win.
"The final is so far away that I don't think about it. Now I'm going to enjoy myself tonight. Tomorrow, I will have some talks with the players and make sure that we are still looking forward,"
