Ross Hutchins is a leading candidate to become the new AEGON Championships tournament director, Press Association Sport understands.
Interviews over the post are ongoing and doubles specialist Hutchins is understood to be in the running along with Mark Petchey, the former player who has been working as a media pundit.
The Lawn Tennis Association hopes to make an announcement regarding the position within the next fortnight.
Hutchins returned to competitive action in January following a battle with cancer.
The 29-year-old Great Britain Davis Cup player from London was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in December 2012 and underwent six months of chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital before revealing he was in remission in July 2013.
Hutchins is close friends with Andy Murray, who won the AEGON Championships - the traditional Wimbledon warm-up event at Queen's Club - last year, the third time the Scot has claimed the title.
