Azarenka out of French Open

World number five Victoria Azarenka has ruled herself out of the French Open because of a foot injury.

The 24-year-old has not played on Tour since Indian Wells in early March because of the problem.

Roland Garros starts next weekend and the Belarusian has decided she will be unable to make it.

Writing on Twitter she said: "Hi Guys, unfortunately I will not be able to compete in Roland Garros this year.

"Working hard on my recovery & getting back on the court. I just want to thank you for all your support. It means a lot to me."

The two-time Australian Open champion will now target a return to full fitness ahead of Wimbledon which starts on June 23.
