James Ward saw off Blaz Rola for the second time in three weeks to set up a second-round tie with number four seed Grigor Dimitrov at the Queen's Club Aegon Championships.
Ward became the first British man in more than 40 years to reach the French Open's first round proper through qualifying when slugging past Slovenian Rola in a gruelling 12-10 final set on May 23.
There was no such drama this time, as the 27-year-old beat Rola 7-5 6-4 in Kensington to set up a showdown with Bulgarian world number 13 Dimitrov.
Ward's victory followed Paul-Henri Mathieu's 7-6 6-4 win over Aljaz Bedene, that sends the Frenchman into the second round to face defending champion Andy Murray.
