Kell Brook has no reason to fear IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter ahead of their bout in California this weekend, according to the Sheffield fighter's trainer Dominic Ingle.
Undefeated Porter has looked formidable in his last two bouts, capturing a portion of the world title with a unanimous points win over Devon Alexander before a fourth-round stoppage of former two-weight world champion Paulie Malignaggi in his first defence.
The American is already being touted for potential match-ups against pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather or Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao, yet Ingle believes Porter has some way to go before he can put himself in their elite class.
While Ingle knows his charge, also unbeaten, has yet to beat the very best at 147lbs, he thinks Porter is being overhyped as a result of his wins against fighters that were past their best.
"Shawn Porter is no Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao," said Ingle, who added Porter may be a slight favourite due to the fight taking place in America.
"He's similar to Kell really, he's never fought anybody that I would consider a big name. Alexander and Malignaggi have both had their day and before those fights he didn't look remarkable.
"People can say the same about Kell, though, he's never fought anybody and he's looked a little ragged at times.
"So to me it's a 50-50 fight. In England, Kell would win the fight 100 per cent.
"We're up against it in California, but he is 28-years-old and he has to take his chances when they come.
"It's maybe 60-40 for Shawn because it's in America, but it's not a fight I see Kell Brook losing."
