It is more convenient to take our rubbish to the tip

IT IS interesting to learn from your Congleton Guardian article that the recycling problems are solved, and that things are on schedule as from last week.

Not from our end.

Last time, the Friday collection was not made until Saturday.

The brand new bottle/can collecting vehicle had problems outside this house, and one man had to climb on top to push cans and bottles into the hopper.

Paper was collected in a rush by a standard refuse vehicle with two men pushing bins down the road and emptying the paper into them for loading.

Were they going to landfill?

Today (Friday January 25) we went out to find the hedgerow covered in blown papers, and litter in the farmer's field opposite.

The crews arrived promptly, but left the boxes scattered about the road, and more items of rubbish scattered onto the road and kerbside.

You may already know that the green sacks are wrongly labelled.

There is confusion about which plastics and wrappers are recyclable.

This scheme has been ill-thought out and rushed through.

The containers admit water, and the lids are liable to blow off in wind.

There are storage problems for householders.

All in all it is more convenient to take things to the tip whenever we are passing.

On a positive note the composting scheme continues to work well.
