Wintertons "blatantly exploit technical loophole"

I IMAGINE the latest furore surrounding the Wintertons will cause a cascade of cynicism about, and bad-mouthing of, politicians in general.

Taking at face value the research done by the journalists who broke the story in a staunchly Tory newspaper, such cynicism would seem to be more than justified in this case.

It is everyone's right to arrange their affairs to minimise their tax laibilities.

But to blatantly exploit a technical loophole at public expense, and not even to acknowledge it is unethical or wrong, or see the harm it does, adds fuel to the embers of public discontent with politicians and the political process.
